Additional Superintendent of Police Subhalakshmi Dutta surrenders to Sivasagar SP

GUWAHATI: Suspended Additional Superintendent of Police (Border) of Assam’s Charaideo district, Subhalakshmi Dutta, gave herself up to the police in Sivasagar on Saturday. She was produced in court later, which granted custody for three days for her alleged involvement in an assault case.

She was promoted to the position of Charaideo Additional Superintendent of Police (Border) but was suspended before she joined for her duties. Her domestic help, Anima Proja, had filed a case (36/23 u/s 324/342 of the IPC) at Nazira Adarsha Police Station on August 27. The ASP went into hiding soon afterwards. The charges against her were beating up domestic help, besides pouring hot water and spraying pepper power on the body while Dutta was working as the SDPO, Nazira.

An inquiry report submitted by the Superintendent of Police, Sivasagar, stated that earlier she was also involved in such incidents, including assaulting one home guard, Anil Pator (Sivasagar PS Case No. 159/2019, U/ 326 IPC), and assaulting Rajkumar Gogoi of Sivasagar (Sivasagar P. S. Case No. 334/2019, U/S 325/506 IPC, and SPAC/C/140/SP (SVR/2019).
