GUWAHATI: The BJP-AGP alliance will win more seats in the first phase of the ensuing Assembly elections. The number will be more than the seats that the ruling alliance won in 2016.

The first phase of elections will be held at 47 legislative assembly constituencies spreading over 12 districts in Upper and Central Assam on March 27.

Speaking to The Sentinel the AGP president Atul Bora said the election mode in Upper Assam has changed soon after the Congress made an alliance with the AIUDF. He said the support base of the Congress in Upper Assam is fast eroding as the people are disillusioned with the party's alliance with the AIUDF. "The situation has reached such a pass that the AIUDF is not even campaigning for the Congress in Upper Assam even after having an official alliance with the latter. The Congress is also hesitant to go hand in hand with the AIUDF in electioneering. Under such circumstances the victory of the ruling alliance is certain," Bora said.
