GUWAHATI: Putting all speculations to rest, the Gauhati High Court has pronounced the legal validity of the formation of AGP's central committee for its current three-year term.

The formation of the central committee of the regional party at its general council meet on August 27, 2020 had a rollercoaster journey with frequent challenges in the court of law till January 19, 2021 when the bench of Justice KalyanRaiSurana of the Gauhati High Court gave legal sanctity to the committee formation.

It was on August 26, 2020 when a lower court ordered an injunction to the formation of the party's central committee slated for August 27, 2020. However, the party formed its new central before receiving the court order. It led the former office-bearers of the Guwahati City Committee of the party to move the lower court that imposed penalty on the party, besides asking it not to make the resolutions taken at the general council meeting effective.

The Central Committee of the party then moved the district judge court challenging the lower court's order and got it stayed only to make the former district committee office-bearers to move the Gauhati High Court challenging the stay order. Al last the High Court pronounced legal validity to the formation of the party's central committee.
