GUWAHATI, Jan 18: TheNational Agri-Horticulture Show 2021 will be held at Bokakhat in Golaghat district from January 21 to January 23.

The fair will be organized under the aegis of State Government's Agriculture Department and Directorate of Horticulture and Food Processing with assistance from Assam Agricultural University and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industries.

The 2021 edition is going to be held both physically and virtually. Participants, comprising experts, interested citizens, farmers, entrepreneurs and others, will be joining the fair from across the country.

The fair will be attended by members of delegation from various countries including Mongolia High Commissioner, Nigeria High Commissioner, Fiji Charge d Affairs, Ghana Charge d Affairs, Macedonia Charge d Affairs, Congo High commissioner, Trinidad and Tobago Councilor, and Bhutan Consulate General.

Additionally, Bangladesh Assistant High Commissioner will also participate in the fair.

Addressing the media persons, State Agriculture Minister Atul Bora said, "The fair has been organized to conquer the Southeast Asian markets by Assam. The Act East Policy of the Central Government has made it easy to achieve this feat."

Bora said the fair is being organized with a budget of Rs 4.5 crore.

"TheNational Agri-Horticulture Show is being organized at regional level since 1995 and later it was developed to national level. From 2014 it is being held at international level. Since the beginning, the fair was being organized in Guwahati and in 2018 it was organized in Dibrugarh. However, due to various reasons the fair was not organized in 2019 and 2020," Bora underlined.

The Minister said the fair will display modern farming methods from across the world, and will have interactive session between farmers and agriculture scientists.

"Discussions will be held in international levels, buyer-seller meet, farmer training sessions, various exhibitions from agriculture and horticulture sector will be held. The fair will aim to attract the State's farmers towards commercial farming," Bora added.
