Ahead of Diwali CM Sarbananda Sonowal buys earthen lamps in Guwahati

Chief Minister Sonowal urged people of Assam to use earthen lamps to fight against pollution and support local artisans

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday bought earthen lamps at a Guwahati market to encourage green and pollution-free Diwali celebrations.

The Chief Minister also urged the people of Assam to use earthen lamps to fight against pollution and support local artisans.

CM Sarbananda Sonowal took to Twitter and posted some pictures and wrote, "The festival of lights is incomplete without earthen lamps made by local artisans. On the eve of Diwali, I bought local earthen lamps in Guwahati. Let's celebrate Diwali by using all the local products."

In his tweet, he wrote in Assamese,"থলুৱা মৃৎশিল্পীয়ে প্ৰস্তুত কৰা চাকিৰ আছে বিশেষ আদৰ যাৰ অবিহনে পোহৰৰ উৎসৱ আধৰুৱা। দীপাৱলীৰ প্ৰাকক্ষণত থলুৱাভাৱে প্ৰস্তুত কৰা মাটিৰ চাকি গুৱাহাটীত ক্ৰয় কৰিলোঁ। আহক, আমি সকলোৱে থলুৱা সামগ্ৰীৰ ব্যৱহাৰেৰে এইবাৰৰ দীপান্বিতা অধিক উজ্জ্বল কৰি তোলোঁ। #Local4Diwali."

Apart from this the Chief Minister Office (CMO)Twitted, "This Diwali, if you are planning to purchase or gift something unique for your loved ones, take a look at the world-famous Eri Silks, a warm and non-violent local product from Assam."

The Government has banned the sale and bursting of firecrackers in Guwahati till November 30 ,2020.

However, only green crackers have been allowed for two hours, from 8 pm to 10 pm on Diwali.
