Aimee Baruah’s Semkhor received Special Mention at the just concluded 52nd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) held in Goa.

GUWAHATI: Aimee Baruah's Semkhor received Special Mention at the just concluded 52nd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) held in Goa.

Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur, while lauding the film, said, "At a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi is giving importance to tribal thought and culture, it is a matter of pride that a film on the Dimasa language directed by a debutant director has received Special Mention honour." The minister appreciated Aimee Baruah for learning the Dimasa language and staying for a year among the Dimasa tribal people to make the film.

Aimee Baruah dedicated the honour to the people of the Northeast and conveyed gratitude to all the artistes and people associated with the film. Actress-turned-director Aimee Baruah essayed the role of the protagonist in the film.
