GUWAHATI: The AIUDF (All India United Democratic Front) has submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma appealing to revive three paper mills of the State.

The paper mills are – Ashok Paper Mill in Jogighopal, Nagaon Paper Mill in Jagiroad, and Cachar Paper Mill in Panchgram.

"Due to shutting down of the mills, a good number of employees became jobless, some are dead and some are homeless and some committed suicide. I do feel that a dynamic leader like you could retrieve the mills to resume production for the betterment of the associated employees. It could be a huge achievement for your government as well," wrote AIUDF supremo Badruddin Ajmal in the memorandum.

Further, he requested the CM that the Assam government should take part in the bidding and retrieve and reinstate these mills to the normal productions.

It is to be noted that the AIUDF delegation that submitted that memorandum was headed by AIUDF legislative party leader Hafiz Bashir Ahmed Qasimi. MLA Sirajuddin Ajmal, MLA Hafiz Rafiqul Islam, MLA Karimuddin Borbhuyan, and AIUDF general secretary Haider Hussain Borah were part of the delegation.
