GUWAHATI: A team of AIUDF (All India United Democratic Front) on Friday submitted a memorandum to State Home Secretary Seema Rekha Bhuyan regarding the security of party supremo and MP Badruddin Ajmal.
The memorandum stated that Ajmal's popularity in the political atmosphere is increasing significantly and has become the reason of tension for some politicians and their parties. Hence, Ajmal has become the target of political sabotage, the memorandum read.
The AIUDF leaders pointed out to the Home Secretary that organizations led by Ajmal have been brought with allegations and fabricated charges.
"Such baseless propaganda and charges to malign the personality of Ajmal is not confined within mere hatred but produces enmity from various angles, which has severe threat to his life and properties. Even some reactionary groups have threatened his usual movement in the State," the leaders stressed in the memorandum.
Further, they urged the Home Secretary to equip Ajmal with more and stronger security measures for his free and safe movement.
"We request you to arrange and provide Ajmal adequate security measures to ensure him free and fearless living and scope to perform democratic exercises," the memorandum added.
The memorandum was submitted by party MLAs Hafiz Bashir Ahmed, Aminul Islam, Dr Rafiqul Islam, general secretaries Champak Kalita, Matiur Rehman, Fazlul Karim, among others.
