GUWAHATI: A team from the AJYCP met Education Minister Ranoj Pegu on Sunday to discuss the issues regarding the evaluation formula which has been announced for examinees of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC)/Assam High Madrassa (AHM) and Higher Secondary (HS) examinations, 2021.
Talking to The Sentinel, AJYCP general secretary Palash Changmai said, "Due to the COVID situation, the State government cancelled the examinations. Accordingly, the Education Department constituted two different committees separately for the AHSEC and SEBA to suggest the procedure to be adopted to prepare the results of HSLC/AHM( Class -X Final) and Higher Secondary Final Examination for the academic year 2020-21. The government has accepted the committees' reports and we have objections towards Clause 5 of the evaluation formula. The Education Minister has stated that the mark sheets issued after the evaluation will not be accepted in TET and other government recruitment examinations."
The AJYCP has demanded that the mark sheets which will be issued after the evaluation should be accepted in all government jobs.
"There are high chances that the teachers will give better marks to their students during the evaluation. Thus, we have suggested to the Minister that the evaluation should be done by teachers from different schools. We also demanded that the special examinations which the government is planning to conduct should be organized before September," said Changmai. The AJYCP has argued that the government can conduct the examinations if they are willing.
"The government can make a green corridor for the students during the examination days. Each examination can be conducted two times in a day with 50 per cent of students in each batch," said Changmai. He said that the Education Minister acknowledged their demands and have accepted that the special examinations have to be conducted soon.
