GUWAHATI: The AJYCP (Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba-Chatra Parishad) is going to stage statewide protest against the MSME Ordinance on Friday.

In a statement issued to the media on Thursday, AJYCP general secretary Palash Changmai said, "The Government being led by Sarbananda Sonowal who speaks of Jati, Maati and Bheti is deceiving the people of the State by handing over their lands to industrialists and businessmen from outside the State. The land policy approved by the Sonowal government is going to make the indigenous people of the State landless. Riding on this land policy, industrialists and businessmen from outside Assam will purchase all lands, including agricultural lands in the State. We demand that the land rights in Assam should only be with the indigenous people of the State, and we've fighting for the past four decades demanding land policy reforms so as to ensure the land rights of the indigenous people. Only to appease New Delhi, the State government is out to hand over the land of the State to outsiders. Let the State government cancel the decision immediately and ensure that only indigenous people of the State buy lands, that to, only for agricultural purposes."
