GUWAHATI,: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (Assam Pradesh) has welcomed the new National Education Policy (NEP), 2020.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, ABVP's Assam Pradesh office secretary Rajesh Nath said, "After long 34 years the education system in the country is set to get a new look, and it have much to do in making Atmonirbhor India a reality."

The students' body further said that the NEP was announced in 1986, and was amended later slightly but those changes have not been in sync with the globalized world, the value system of the country and a self-reliant nation. The country had to wait for a long time to get an educational policy based on Indian value system and the right subjective benchmark. Reforms in the NEP have been a long-standing demand of the people of the country. With the government giving priority on it, the people's aspirations are going to be fulfilled, the students' body said, and added that the government should implement the policy without wasting time.
