Guwahati: Alcheringa, the annual extravaganza of the IIT Guwahati is the largest socio-cultural festival of north-east India, which conducts various social campaigns every year to give something back to the society it thrives upon.
Alcheringa, this year, launched it's newest campaign, Man-Shakti, which is an initiative to promote mental health, during these challenging times that have been brought about due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As a part of phase-1 of Man-Shakti, the messages of the people who wanted to show their gratitude to our health workers were successfully delivered to the desired location, thanks to Mitochondrial. Now with phase-2 going on, Man-Shakti has adopted a three-step method to deal and cope up with mental illness, which is as follows: (i) IDENTIFY, (ii) ACCEPT, (iii) ADAPT.
Stress management and the first step to BREAKING THE STIGMA starts with identifying the sources and signs of stress and tension in your life. This isn't as straightforward as it sounds. While it is easy to identify and pinpoint the major ones but we often overlook how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors contribute to your everyday issues.
To identify your true signs that you may be facing mental health issues, look closely at your habits, attitude, and excuses.
Here are a few signs that Man-Shakti discussed to identify if you are facing any mental stress or anxiety problems :
-Not wanting to leave the house and withdrawal from friends.
-Detachment from reality (delusions), paranoia, or being a hallucination.
-Having low self-esteem
-Recurring thoughts of suicide.
-Loss of appetite, or weight loss or gain.
-Having bipolar disorder symptoms, having mood swings, or getting irritable very easily
Remember these are the signs for concern only if they happen to you for a sustained period.
Feel free to share your experiences with mental health on the official portal.
