GUWAHATI: The newly appointed Commissioner of Transport, Dr Robin Kumar (IPS) held an important meeting with senior officials of the department at the Transport Commissioner’s auditorium today.
The meeting discussed the issue of Rangali Bihu, which will be held on April 14 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. About 11,000 drummers and dancers will perform Bihu together at Saroshjai Stadium in Assam for the first time. The procedures were discussed in the meeting in detail.
The meeting was attended by Joint Commissioner of Transport, Rubul Talukdar, Assistant Commissioners of Transport Gautam Das, Bhaskar Dutta, District Transport Officer (Promoter) Himanshu Kumar Das, Regional Transport Authority Rafiqul Islam and newly appointed District Transport Officers Lien Hazarika, Hirakjyoti Deka and Purvi Kalita.
The meeting focused on maintaining orderly and safe traffic for all vehicle users including pedestrians during the visit of the Prime Minister. The newly appointed Commissioner of Transport urged the transport officers to remain vigilant and alert by following the road traffic guidelines.
