GUWAHATI: The All Assam Primary TET-Qualified Teachers' Association wrote a letter to the Prime Minister that was signed by 22,000 contractual and state pool teachers. The letter said that the teachers wanted their posts to be made regular and secure in terms of salary, with no conditions attached.

The association's president, Trailokya Deka, said this decision was taken earlier. On the eve of the Assam Legislative Assembly election 2016, in the "vision document 2016-2024," the BJP said that if they came to power, they would be regularizing all the contractual teacher posts, but after forming the government, no such steps have been taken. They want the government to meet their demand.
