GUWAHATI: The All Assam Sanyogi Siksha Karmi Union (AASSKU) is set to take to the streets from October 15, 2020 in protest against the failure of the State government to appoint them as assured by it.

Union's secretary Mridul Rajbongshi said, "We were appointed as LP Schools' Sanyogi teachers in 2005-06 to bring school dropout students back to the classroom. However, on March 31, 2012 our jobs were terminated without any notice. We, 6363 primary teachers, became jobless all of a sudden. We had many meetings with the government since then and the government kept us on the tenterhooks only with assurances. We also had meetings with the Sarba Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) Mission, but to no avail.

"In the meantime, 3559 of us acquired the D.El.Ed. diploma. However, our appointments have not been started as yet. Now we want the government to spell out if it will ensure our jobs or not."
