GUWAHATI: The All Assam Trained Home Guard Association on Monday announced that it will stage a protest on February 11 demanding the Government to regularize their posts.

Addressing the media, president of the Association, Kamakhya Das stated that around 12,000 Home Guards under the Government of Assam are working with a mearge amount of Rs 9,000 per month in unprovincialized posts.

The employees demanded the Government to amend the present Assam Home Guard Act, 1947 to provincialize the employees. Among other demands of the Association includes increase in retirement age of the Home Guards from 55 to 60 years, pension facilities, and upgradation of the Home Guard Digital Deployment system.

"Despite sending a number of memorandums to the Government, we have not received any response. So, a scene of Khaki vs Khaki will be seen in Dispur Lastgate on February 11 when home guards will stage agitation in uniform. We want equal pay for equal work," said Das.

"If our issues are not addressed by the Government then we will boycott the forthcoming Assam Legislative Assembly election," added Das.
