All India Presiding Officers Conference to be held on September 25

The All India Presiding Officers' Conference (AIPOC), the Assam Legislative Assembly will celebrate the centenary year of AIPOC with a year-long programme from September, 2020.

GUWAHATI: The All India Presiding Officers' Conference (AIPOC), the Assam Legislative Assembly will celebrate the centenary year of AIPOC with a year-long programme from September, 2020.

The inaugural function of the celebration will be held at Gopinath Bordoloi Bhawan Conference Hall on September 25.

Ex-speaker of Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Tenzing Norbu Thongdok will be the chief guest of the function to deliver the keynote address.

The inaugural programme will have a lecture session on the topic - Parliamentary Procedures and Independence of Legislative Assemblies and its Secretariats. Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly Hitendra Nath Goswami said the conference will be held in four phases and the first phase will start from September 25.

"While the second phase will be held from December to March, 2021, the third phase will commence from March and will end in June. Similarly, the fourth phase will be held from June to September," Goswami added. It is to be noted that the last AIPOC conference was held in 1989 in Guwahati and prior to that in 1955 in Shillong.
