GUWAHATI: The five-day Ambubachi Mela started on June 23, and the vibrant saffron colour adorning the sages and ascetic can be seen everywhere. The arrival of the babas and sadhus marks their spiritual journey in the Ambubachi Mela. Babas from various parts of the country visit every year for this mystical event. This year too, various ascetics have arrived at Maa Kamakhya Temple.

One of the Babas said, “I came from North Lakhimpur, and I am greatly inspired by Baba Ramdev. Ambubachi Mela is a great event, and I visit every year. This is the time when you can ask for whatever you want, and your wishes will be granted.”

The whole temple and its surroundings are decorated, and arrangements for its visitors are taken care of. Arrangements for the visitors are made in the ‘Akhara Griha,’ where they can avail themselves of all kinds of facilities.

One of the babas is known as Chocolate Baba. When asked, he said, “This is the most holy month of the year. It feels so nice to come back here, and the ambience also makes me feel very content. When people visit Assam, they are greeted with Gamusa and Paan-Tamul, so I greet people with chocolates. I wish every person’s wish gets granted.”

Another one said, “Maa Kamakhya is the mother of all. She is Adishakti. I am from Silchar, and when people recognize me as from the land of Maa Kamakhya, I feel really proud.”

According to one of the devotees, “We feel very happy with the arrangements at this time. It is very well done and well maintained. I hope the wishes are fulfilled.” It may be mentioned that this year’s Ambubachi Mela is well administered. Proper, strict rules are maintained, and the District Commissioner Kamrup (M) has personally inspected all the areas.
