GUWAHATI: The Assam Police, one of the frontline COVID-19 warriors, has lost its second soldier in the fight against the virus. Corona patient Naik Rajesh Narzary (45) of 9th APBn hailing from Kokrajhar breathed his last in the GMCH (Gauhati Medical College and Hospital) on Monday.
He was admitted to the GMCH on July 4, 2020. He had been in the ICU (intensive care unit) in the medical college for the past few days.
State GDP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahata, while condoling the death of Naik Narzary, tweeted that 'all necessary help and assistance will be extended to the family of our brave #Coronawarrior."
Till July 19, 2020 as many as 869 personnel of the State police force tested corona positive, and of them 484 have recovered, and 50 of them have already joined for duty.
16th IR Battalion Havildar Hareswar Nath was the first toll of corona in the State police force.
