GUWAHATI: Damages and thereafter leakages from water supply pipes have been a major area of concern for the officials of the concerned departments. Over 10 such major and minor incidents have taken place in recent times in the city. The most recent incident, however, took place in the Panikhaiti locality, which comes under the Neer Nirmal Pariyojana. This project also comes under the Public Health Engineering Department of the state and is funded by the World Bank with the aim of providing clean drinking water to the people of the locality.
According to local reports, the incident took place at around 4 p.m., and a large amount of water was wasted because of it. Authorities have informed us that work on the necessary repairs has started and will be completed soon.
