ANTI-CAA Protests: Cottonians Wear Black Badges & Gamosa

GUWAHATI: Students of Cotton University on Friday sat for their semester postgraduate examinations which were postponed due to the anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Act or CAA protests, by wearing black badges and traditional gamosa.

The semester examinations of Cotton University were postponed following the massive anti-CAA protests since December 11, 2019. The university authority resumed the examinations from Friday.

Once the examinees entered the varsity premises they were given black badges and gamosa by other Cottonians. The black badges were inscripted with slogans such “Joi Aai Asom” & “We will not accept CAA”. “Our protests against the contentious and communal CAA will continue. We will study, sit for exams and also continue agitation for the sake of our language, culture and identity. The CAA will destroy identity of the Assamese people. Being the future of the State students cannot take rest,” a Cottonian said. Hirakjyoti Borah, another Cottonian said students will continue to wear black badges in all days of examinations.
