Anti Ragging Committee formed for 2023-24 in Gauhati University

GUWAHATI: With the aim of preventing possible incidents of ragging on campus as per the UGC Regulation on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Education Institutions, 2009, and guidelines of the Supreme Court of India, an anti-ragging committee was formed at Gauhati University for the coming academic year. With the approval of the Vice Chancellor of the university, this committee was formed and comprised of members from multiple departments, with Registrar Dr. Hemanta Kr. Nath as the chairperson. Prof. Jagadish Sarma, Secretary (i/c), University Classes of Gauhati University, is the convener and has a total of 16 members.

The other members include the Officer-in-Charge of Jalukbari Police Outpost, the Circle Officer of Guwahati Circle, Amitabh Thakuria, Lawyer and guardian of G.U. Student, Archana Borthakur, NGO Representative, Jitendra Kumar Choudhury (Media Person), Prof. Anjana Kakoti Mahanta, Dept. of Computer Science, Prof. Bibhash Choudhury, Dept. of English, Dr Abu Bakkar Siddique, Dept. of Arabic, Prof. Dhrubajyoti Sahariah, Dept. of Geography, Prof. Bhupen Narzary, Dept. of Bodo, Prof. P.P. Baruah, Dept. of Botany, Principal, University Law College, President, PGSU, G.U. (Senior Student), Kukila Rajkhowa, (Junior Student, Dept. of Sanskrit, G.U.), Gunajit Choudhury (Non-teaching staff) and the Security office of the university.
