Sentinel Digital Desk

Guwahati: Soon after an incident of alleged demand of bribe at Ganeshguri NRC Seva Kendra has come into the light, the office of State NRC Coordinator in Guwahati in their Facebook comment on the page of The Sentinel Digital stated that any official found involved in any illegal activity will be punished as per law.

However, as per the preliminary findings indicate that the NRC officials at Ganeshguri NSK of Dispur Circle have no role to play in the matter of inclusion or exclusion of the Claimant/Complainant.

In the instant case, the hearing of the NRC Claimant has already been completed in May, 2019 at a different venue far away from Ganeshguri and that too by an officer who is from another Circle, and who has no connection with the Ganeshguri NSK. In fact, Ganeshguri NSK is not even a Claims Hearings Venue and these officials have no role to play in inclusion/ exclusion of any NRC Claimant, the office of the State NRC Coordinator stated in their comment.

“Results of the hearing have also been recorded and received in Central Servers during the month of May itself. As such, the NRC officials at Ganeshguri NSK cannot influence the matter of inclusion or exclusion of the Claimant/Complainant or for that matter any other NRC Claimant also,” adding, “It is reiterated that the system of NRC Update is strong enough to ensure quality and will remain unaffected even in case of complicity by any official. Deliberate planned change of officers, multiple levels of quality checking and vetting of decisions of field level officials are done at Circle, District and State level to ensure the maintenance of quality. Public, therefore, need not get worried with such incidents insofar as quality of NRC is concerned,” stated office of the State NRC Coordinator mentioned further.

It is to be noted that based on a complaint, today morning at around 11 am Field Level Officer (FLO) of NRC Seva Kendra of Dispur 8 at Ganeshguri Guwahati was caught red-handed by the Assam ACB Team led by a Deputy Superintendent.

The field officer accused identified as Syed Shahjahan (48) was caught accepting a bribe amount of Rs. 10,000 from complainant Mrs. Kajari Ghosh Dutta of Ananda Nagar Police Station Dispur, Guwahati.

Also, another accused Rahul Parasar (27), Assistant Local Registrar of Citizen Registration (LRCR) of the same NRC Sewa Kendra was also arrested who were found involved in the crime.
