GUWAHATI: Fight Against Injustice of APSC has alleged that Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) is merely hoodwinking people in the name of conducting various examinations.

Fight Against Injustice of APSC admin Manas Pratim Baruah said that even after the arrest of former APSC chairman Rakesh Paul, things had not improved and the APSC continued to break rules while conducting exams. He slammed the Commission for scheduling the APSC (Mains) exam during the same time as the Indian Forest Service (IFoS) exam. The APSC (Mains) exam will be held from February 21 to February 27. One day before the exam starts, the Indian Engineering Services (IES) exam will be conducted. "Conducting the APSC (Mains) exam is just a gimmick," said Baruah.

He said that the Commission had declared that the APSC (Mains) exam 2020 would be conducted as per the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam model.

"The Commission should have published model questions and answers on the website at least 3-4 months before the exam. But the model answer sheets were published on February 3 and February 5," he said, and added, "As per the Assam Public Services Combined Competitive Examination (Amendment) Rules, 2019, the admit cards must be issued three weeks before the exam. But the APSC declared the exam schedule only 3-4 weeks ago and the admit cards have been issued from yesterday after a section of candidates decided to approach the court."
