GUWAHATI: Arrested DIG (Deputy Inspector General) and senior IPS (Indian Police Service) officer Rounak Ali Hazarika was produced at the Court of the Special Judge here on Wednesday. After the hearing, the Court sent him to 10-day custody of the CMs' SVC (Chief Minister's Special Vigilance Cell). Meanwhile, in another development in this case, the investigation agency has decided to involve a registered valuer to assess the properties of Hazarika.

The CMs' SVC had arrested DIG Ali Hazarika from his Hengrabari house in Guwahati on Tuesday. Earlier on July 20, 2021, the Assam government had suspended him for his numerous foreign trips since 2011 without obtaining prior permission from the government. The Governor of Assam, in the exercise of powers conferred by the clauses of the 'All India Services (Discipline & Appeal) Rules-1969', placed Hazarika under suspension with immediate effect," stated the notification. The officials of CMs' SVC under the leadership of SP Rosy Kalita proceeded to the house of Ali Hazarika at Hengrabari on Tuesday.
