ASCPCR alleged child rights 'violation' in Kamakhya Devalaya

The Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (ASCPCR) has alleged “violation of child rights in Kamakhya Devalaya”.

GUWAHATI: The Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (ASCPCR) has alleged "violation of child rights in Kamakhya Devalaya".

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) held a virtual meeting in collaboration with ASCPCR for taking strategic course of action in places of religious importance where violation of child rights is rampant.

"In the nation 50 religious places are violating child rights," the NCPCR claimed.

The ASCPCR has also received a complaint regarding the sensitive matter of violation of child rights in Kamakhya Devalaya in Guwahati. When an ASCPCR team visited Kamakhya Devalaya, it found girl children begging from devotees on the pretext of performing Kumari Puja, and when the devotees refuse to give money the girls curse them.

The ASCPCR wrote to the Kamrup (metro) District Administration on the violation of child rights in the Kamakhya Devalaya premises.
