GUWAHATI: The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) remembered Ahom General Lachit Barphukan on his 400th birth anniversary with functions all over the state today.
AGP general secretary Manoj Saikia said, "All district and LAC committees of the party observed the day with various activities and paid tributes to the legendary Ahom General."
The regional party observed the day centrally at the party headquarters at Ambari in Guwahati by hoisting the party flag. AGP's Guwahati City Committee in-charge president Dibyajyoti Bhuyan hoisted the flag.
Manoj Saikia led the paying of tributes to a portrait of the war hero.
Several leaders of the central committee of the regional party, the Guwahati City Committee and other wings took part in the function.
The party discussed the life and activities of Lachit Barphukan before concluding the ceremony.
The party lighted earthen lamps in the evening at the party headquarters.
