Asom Gana Parishad will vote for Draupadi Murmu: MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita

Assam's ruling alliance partner AGP officially announced that all its MLAs and lone MP (Rajya Sabha) would vote for NDA's presidential candidate

GUWAHATI: Assam's ruling alliance partner Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) officially announced on Thursday that all its MLAs and lone MP (Rajya Sabha) would vote for NDA's presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu in the presidential election on July 18.

This was announced by AGP's general secretary and West Guwahati MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita.

Talking to the media, Kalita said that the decision was ratified at a recent meeting of the AGP on organizational matters as well the ensuing presidential poll.

He added that the meeting welcomed the NDA's decision to field a woman who belongs to the Adivasi community.

Kalita further said that all nine MLAs and MP Birendra Prasad Baishya will vote for Murmu in the election.

Counting of votes will take place in New Delhi on July 21.
