GUWAHATI: The Asom Rajyik Prathamik Sikshak Sanmilani (ARPSS) has condoled the demise of a polling officer who died on duty at 147 no. polling booth in Charaideo on March 27.
The deceased, Tulsi Khanikar was stationed at Hajowa Prathamik Vidyalaya in Moran. He fell sick during his election duties and lost his life on the way to a hospital.
The ARPSS has appealed to the State government to give a job to a member of the deceased's family.
"Late Khanikar was about to retire in six months. The government is responsible for his death as he was deputed for polling duties at such an old age," said ARPSS in-charge president Anwar Hussain.
The ARPSS appealed to the government not to depute employees in election duties who have a year left for retirement.
The Sanmilani also slammed the political parties by stating that not a single political leader has expressed grief on late Khanikar's demise. It expressed anger over such 'selfish mentality' of the political parties.
Lastly, it appealed to all parties to come together for the security of the deceased's family.
