Assam CM inaugurates cybercrime police stations and outposts

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated two cybercrime police stations and two cybercrime outposts.

One of the two police stations is at the CID HQ with statewide jurisdiction, and the other is at the Guwahati City Commissionerate with Guwahati City jurisdiction. The CID Cyber Police Station will also have two Cyber Outposts, one at Dibrugarh for upper Assam districts and one at Silchar for Barak Valley districts. Sophisticated cyber forensic tools like mobile data extraction tools, image and video enhancement tools, high-end workstations, password recovery software, cryptocurrency chain analysis, mobile phone unlocking tools, disc duplicators, etc. are installed in the Cyber Police Stations and Cyber Outposts.

Investigating Officers with technical backgrounds and a flare for cybercrime investigation have been specially selected and trained at the National Cyber Crime Training Centre, New Delhi, NIELIT Khanapara, and CIDHQ and have been posted in these newly inaugurated Cyber Police Stations and Cyber Outposts. These will go a long way towards combating rising cybercrimes in the state.
