Assam: Demand to increase primary TET-qualified teachers’ posts

GUWAHATI: Sadou Asom Nijukti Banchita Prathamik TET Sanmilani demanded the number of posts for primary teachers that the Department of Elementary Education will be publishing should be increased to 8,000 posts.

In a press meet, the Sanmilani’s president, Lakhya Jyoti Saikia, and secretary, Mrigen Saikia, said, “There are about 12,000 TET-qualified candidates who have not been recruited till now, and for these 12,000 candidates, there seems to be a dark future. TET was introduced in the state when the Chief Minister was the then Education Minister, so we urge the Chief Minister and the Education Minister to take steps to appoint these TET-qualified candidates based on any government schemes.

The Sanmilani further stated, “The government should also take special steps in recruiting those TET-qualified candidates who have crossed their upper age limit. Steps should be taken for the candidates who have qualified TET and should be recruited.”
