GUWAHATI: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Ashok Singhal, Assam has embarked on a sweeping journey towards cleanliness. Assam has embraced the ‘Swacchata Hi Seva’ campaign, a nationwide programme initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Till tomorrow, over 63,273 citizens and 96 urban local bodies (ULBs) in the state have joined forces, heeding the call to make Assam a shining example of cleanliness and hygiene. This collaborative effort forms an integral part of the country’s grand vision of a “Swachh Bharat.” This is possible with the support of 39,13,367 young students from 43,265 schools across 33 districts in Assam. They have enthusiastically pledged their support to this noble cause, demonstrating their dedication through initiatives like ‘Let’s Clean Our School Campus.’

In a recent development, Minister Ashok Singhal chaired a crucial video conference on September 27, bringing together district commissioners, municipal board chairpersons, CEOs, and councilors. During this meeting, he passionately urged all stakeholders to actively engage in the ‘Swacchata Hi Seva’ programme, emphasizing that a ‘Swachh Bharat’ can only be realized with wholehearted citizen participation.

As the campaign gains momentum, Minister Ashok Singhal invites all its citizens to come forward for an hour of ‘shramdaan’ on October 1. This collective effort will undoubtedly make Assam a cleaner and more pristine state, aligning perfectly with the nationwide movement towards a Swachh Bharat.
