GUWAHATI: Despite being summoned by the Additional District and Sessions Judge, the former National Registry of Citizens (NRC) coordinator, Prateek Hajela, failed to appear before the Court on Friday. He was earlier summoned by the Court in connection with the irregularities in the finances of the NRC on November 17.

Following this development, the Court directed that advertisements be published in two widely circulated newspapers in Madhya Pradesh and Assam, as well as two national newspapers, to bring the incident to the attention of Prateek Hazela. The summons had mentioned that if the official failed to appear before the court, the case would be heard ex parte as per the law. Although WIPRO Limited submitted an affidavit before the Court, Integrated System and Services (ISS) proprietor Utpal Hazarika also failed to appear for the hearing.
