Assam Government to increase the number of beneficiaries for receiving aid

GUWAHATI: The State Government has decided to increase the number of beneficiaries for receiving aid from the Panchayat & Rural Development (P&RD) department. The department is to provide Rs. 1,000 to the poor and daily wage earners. As of now a total of 2,78,793 families have received the aid. The people not covered by the Food Security Scheme are eligible to receive the aid. Besides depositing four-month advance pension to widows for the month of April to July under the Indira Miri Universal Widow Pension Scheme, a total of 12 lakh beneficiaries under the Swahid Kushal Konwar Sarbajanin Bridha Pension Scheme will receive their pension for two months at one time.
