The Governor said, "I am happy that former Governor of Assam, Jagdish Mukhi ji, started an annual award for meritorious students of educational institutions. This is a commendable step. With this, meritorious students will not only get financial support but also encouragement. The objective of this award is to encourage higher education, appreciate the efforts of the student, and inspire other students to come forward and show their commitment".

The governor said that it is a positive development to see that the girl students are coming forward and attaining better results. He said that even in Chandrayaan-3, the lady scientists equally contributed to its success. In every field, girls have shown their talent. He said that even in universities, the enrollment of girls outweighs the enrollment of boys. Kataria said that the role of a teacher is immense. He asked the teachers to search for talent in the students, show them the right direction, and mentor them so that they can contribute to the development of the nation and establish the country as a global power and Vishwa Guru.

Kataria thanked the principal of the college and acknowledged his role in enabling the college to churn out human resources and build a knowledge-based society. He also asked him to arrange an alumni meet every year and invite all the students who had graduated from the institution so that they could contribute to the development of the college and also motivate the present students to reach greater heights.

Kataria, on the occasion, also announced that Raj Bhavan, Assam, would present medals for the first, second, and third position holders in all the state universities, central universities, and private universities in the state.

The principal of Gauhati Commerce College, Dr. Homeshwar Kalita, and a host of other dignitaries were present on the occasion, stated a press release.
