GUWAHATI: Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria visited DC Office Kamrup (M) on Friday and held a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner of Police, heads of the departments, and other stakeholder groups to take stock of the developmental works and prevailing law and order in the district.
While chairing the meeting at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office, the Governor took stock of the status of the schemes undertaken by the departments like agriculture, horticulture, PHE, education, GMC, and GMDA, among others. Deputy Commissioner Kamrup (M) Pallav Gopal Jha apprised the Governor of the several development works currently going on in the district.
Governor Kataria also stressed rainwater harvesting. He said that water must be conserved and rainwater must be collected and stored for sustainable water management. The Governor also highlighted that agriculture and horticulture are the major contributors to socio-economic development and therefore asked the District Agricultural Officer to see that all the schemes reach progressive farmers. He also asked all the functionaries to be punctual and transparent in their dealings and contribute to the development of the district as well as the state. Governor Kataria also held a meeting with the Commissioner of Police, Diganta Barah, to gain insight into the law and order situation prevailing in the city. Earlier, the governor planted a sapling on the DC office campus. The Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor, SS Meenakshi Sundaram, also accompanied the Governor during his visit, stated a press release.
