Assam Governor Mukhi extends Hanuman Jayanti greetings

Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi attended Hanuman Jayanti celebrations at the Hanuman temple at Gallypatty in the city

GUWAHATI: Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi attended Hanuman Jayanti celebrations at the Hanuman temple at Gallypatty in the city on Saturday, stated an official communique.

Attending the celebrations, Mukhi greeted all the people on the auspicious occasion of Hanuman Jayanti and prayed for the welfare of all sections of the people of the State.

The Governor said that Hanuman, the great devotee of Lord Rama, is a deity who symbolizes energy, devotion and strength. He said: "On the pious occasion of Hanuman Janmotsav, I offer my prayers. Pawanputra Hanuman is an exemplification of courage, strength, devotion, and perseverance. May his venerated blessings show us the dignified path to lead a life devoted to the well-being of every human kind.

Mukhi also said that Hanuman is immortal and alive as he was blessed with the boon of immortality by Lord Rama and, therefore, he urged upon the organizing committee to perform the celebrations in the name of Hanuman Mahotsav rather than Hanuman Jayanti.

Later, the Governor also visited the Hanuman Mandir in Jahajghat, Ujanbazar.
