Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi has extended his greetings to the people of the State, especially to the Sikh brethren, on the eve of Guru Nanak Jayanti.

GUWAHATI: Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi has extended his greetings to the people of the State, especially to the Sikh brethren, on the eve of Guru Nanak Jayanti.

In a message to the people of the State, the Governor said, "Guru Nanak Dev Ji was an embodiment of wisdom, peace, unity and universal brotherhood who worked for enlightenment of humanity. On the sacred occasion of Nanak ji's birthday, I pay my obeisance to the revered soul and pray for the welfare and development of all sections of people." The Governor also said that Guru Nanak ji propagated the message of universal brotherhood and peaceful coexistence.

Mukhi moreover said that Guru Nanak ji's messages of love and amity have always strengthened the cultural fabric of the society. He also appealed to the devotees to emulate the teachings of Guru Nanak ji and spread the message of love, compassion and universal brotherhood and transform the society in to his dream, stated an official communiqué.
