Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi mourned the death of legendary artist Neel Pawan Baruah who breathed his last today.

GUWAHATI: Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi mourned the death of legendary artist Neel Pawan Baruah who breathed his last today.

In a condolence statement here today, Governor Prof Mukhi said, "It is a sad day for Assam as the state has lost one of its most celebrated painters today. It is a great loss. Neel Pawan Baruah's creations have given new dimensions to the art and culture of the state. Though the legendary artist's death is an irreparable loss, I am sure his rich legacy continues to be a source of inspiration for art lovers across the country".

"My heartfelt empathy is with the art lovers of the state. I pray to the Almighty God for eternal peace of the departed soul", the Governor added, in a press release said.
