GUWAHATI: Assam's Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Kumar Borah and All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) supremo Badruddin Ajmal have extended condolences at the death of former Union Minister and Chief Minister of UP Mulayam Singh Yadav, who breathed his last on Monday.

Mukhi said in a condolence message, "The death of Mulayam Singh Yadav, a Samajwadi Party patriarch, former Defence Minister and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh is a great loss. As a senior Minister he put up a good show and served the nation as well as its people with dedication and diligence. He had the knack of solving critical issues in a simplistic way. His death would create a void in the socio -political landscape of the nation.

"I express my empathy to the bereaved family members and pray to the Almighty for eternal peace of the departed soul," Mukhi said.

Meanwhile, describing Yadav as a bright star of the Indian polity, Bhupen Kumar Borah said that his death is an irreparable loss not only for Uttar Pradesh but the entire country. Borah said that Yadav's political acumen can be gauged from the fact that he was a ten-time MLA, seven-time MP and three-time Chief Minister, besides having served as the Defence Minister of India.

On the other hand, Badruddin Ajmal said that the country has lost a capable and constructive leader in Yadav's demise.
