GUWAHATI: The Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD) and the Government of Assam (GoA) signed a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in a program that took place in the conference room of the Chief Minister's Office in Janata Bhawan, Dispur.
According to reports, distinguished dignitaries, including well-known scientists, government representatives, and representatives from the CDFD and the GoA, were present at the signing event. The gathering offered a venue for exchanging concepts, information, and assets in order to further scientific inquiry and improve healthcare in Assam.
In his speech Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that, “I am happy to note that Govt of Assam has inked two MoUs with @DBT_CDFD for collaborating on DNA fingerprinting & training which will be immensely helpful in ensuring speedy justice delivery & enable joint research,learning and implementing best practices.”
The two Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) are :
Collaborating with the Home Department on DNA fingerprinting methods
Facilitating academic collaboration with the Health Department and pertinent medical research
On the other hand, the Assam government is aware of the enormous potential that DNA fingerprinting and diagnostics provide for tackling significant societal issues. The state hopes to use these technologies through this collaboration with CDFD to improve disease detection, bolster its healthcare system, speed up criminal investigations, and guarantee the general welfare of its residents.
With this partnership, Assam is poised to experience tremendous advancements in DNA technology, supported by CDFD's experience and resources. The collaboration has the potential to significantly improve forensic investigations, advance healthcare services, and transform the state's agriculture industry.
