GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had a meeting with the department officials reviewing the overall infrastructure of Guwahati on Saturday. A few important projects were reviewed by the Chief Minister that will be overhauled, like the Ring Road and how to make the city flood-free.

Works are being accelerated to remove encroachments and build guard walls along the Bahini and Bharalu Rivers.

An approach is undertaken to increase the capacity of drains and channels to ensure uninterrupted water flow to water bodies like Silsako, Lakhimijan, Borsola, and Bondajan. And if it is done, it will greatly minimize impact of flash floods. Also, the Chief Minister has asked the officials to ensure minimum inconvenience to the public when the construction for the ring road begins.
