GUWAHATI: The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) which has to be followed by various institutions and students to ensure smooth conduct of the ongoing admission process into the HS 1st First Year.

The SOP stipulates that the selection list and waiting list for admission into HS First Year will have to be prepared by the institutions concerned from June 20 to June 22. The selection list and waiting list for admission will have to be made available in the portal (www.darpan. ahseconline.in) for the students on June 22 (midnight). The candidates will receive notification of their selection through SMS.

The SOP further directs the institutions concerned to ensure that online verifications are conducted for admissions into HS First Year courses. After publication of the selection list, candidates will be allowed to approve only one institution for admission using their Login ID in the portal from June 23 to June 24 (till 9 pm). After approval, there will be no option for a candidate to change the institution. The candidate must take admission in the institution concerned within the stipulated time period to complete the admission process (from June 25 to June 27).

The admission process will have to be completed by the institutions between June 25 and June 27.

The SOP also directed that all institutions will have to confirm the admission by clicking 'accept the admission' button in the portal using Institution Login ID on daily basis during admission process latest by June 27.

Candidates will be able to change their preferred subject(s)/stream at the time of admission and the institution concerned will have to update the same in the portal on the day of admission, the SOP states.

It advised that the 'DARPAN' online admission portal may be reopened to facilitate admission for the left out candidates.

Moreover, the SOP instructed that the institutions should refrain from getting students admitted without his/her consent and also mentioned that institutions will not be allowed to enroll students through other institutions so as to avoid complications for processing other mandatory process in respect of students.
