GUWAHATI: The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) will continue its initiative to review of suitability of various examination centres and tagged institutions for the Higher Secondary (HS) final examinations 2023.

According to AHSEC sources, the review will be carried out by district-level inspection committees which will comprise principals of reputed colleges and higher secondary schools along with AHSEC members.

The sources said that assessment of the continued suitability of 789 examinations centres in 34 districts will be completed by December this year. AHSEC will decide regarding continuation or discontinuation of each examination centre and tagged institution based on the final reports submitted by the district-level committees.

It may be mentioned that the system of review of suitability of examination centres by district-level inspection teams was started in 2019.

The sources said that previously even private schools were selected as examination centres, but the AHSEC stopped that practice after 2017 due to various allegations of anomalies. This decision was even challenged in court, but the court ruled in favour of the AHSEC.

The sources said as a result of the annual review of suitability of examination centres, so far the AHSEC had dropped over 100 such centres.
