GUWAHATI: The AJP (Assam Jatiya Parishad) has demanded the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Assam to take stern action against BJP's (Bharatiya Janata Party) Morigaon candidate Ramakanta Deuri for allegedly bribing electors.
In a letter to the CEO, the party has provided a link to a video footage where Deuri is allegedly seen distributing money among a crowd predominantly consisting of women.
"The act appears to be a clear case of corrupt practices and electoral offence under the legal provisions governing conduct of elections which warrant stern action by the ECI (Election Commission of India)," the AJP stated. The party has requested the Election Commission to enquire into the matter and take appropriate legal action against Deuri as per law.
