Assam Mourns the Death of Noted Litterateur Dr. Lakshmi Nandan Bora

Various organizations and noted persons condoled the demise of noted litterateur and Padma Shri awardee Dr. Lakshmi Nandan Bora.

GUWAHATI: Various organizations and noted persons condoled the demise of noted litterateur and Padma Shri awardee Dr. Lakshmi Nandan Bora. In a condolence statement, Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary said Dr Bora's contribution to the Assamese society will be remembered.

Former Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said, "I am in grief due to Dr Bora's demise. His writings reflected the Assamese society. His death is an irreparable loss to the society."

Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary said, "Dr Lakshmi Nandan Bora, the former president of Axam Xahitya Xabha (AXX), was a literary giant. His short stories and novels have immensely enriched Assamese literature. His demise is an irreparable loss to our State and the country."

As directed by the Chief Minister, the Industry Minister paid floral tributes as per COVID SOP guidelines to the eminent litterateur at Nabagraha Crematorium. AXX president Kuladhar Saikia said, "Dr Bora's contribution to the Assamese literature will live on forever. He gave a new direction to the AXX as its president," said Saikia.

The president of Nikhil Bishnupriya Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Dils Lakshmindra Sinha also condoled the death of the literature. He recalled the participation of late Dr Bora in the Biswa Sanmelan of the Nikhil Bishnupriya Manipuri Sahitya Parishad.

Among other organizations and individuals who condoled the former AXX president's demise include — AASU, AGSU, AJYCP, AGP president and Minister Atul Bora, BJP president and Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass, Cultural Minister Bimal Borah, APCC president Ripun Bora, AJP, Assam Xatra Mahasabha, Boro Sahitya Sabha, Asom Devalaya Sangha, Sadou Asom Karmachari Parishad, Asom Natya Sanmilan, and Publication Board Assam.
