Assam Police arrested 4,377, Rs 2.2 crore fine realized across state

GUWAHATI: As many as 4,377 persons have been arrested across the State for violating lockdown norms, the Assam Police said on Monday.

According to a statement, a total of Rs 2.27,88,250 was collected from the persons as fine for defying the restrictions.

In its daily report on the ongoing lockdown, department said that 2,116 cases have been registered for 2,768 incidents eversince the lockdown was imposed on March 24.

Besides, 26,008 vehicles and 32 boats have been seized from various parts of the State during this period. Out of the total vehicles, 23,228 are two wheelers, 2,085 are four wheelers and 507 are three wheelers. The Assam Police is also vigilant against the spread of fake news related to COVID-19. The statement said that 96 cases have been registered so far which has led to 50 arrests. In addition to these, the Assam Police has also classified 27 places as containment zones.
