Assam Police Busted Drug Racket in Jewellery Shop At Paltan Bazar, Guwahati

With the Assam police extensive drive against drugs and narcotics in the state, the city crime branch busted a drug racket at a jewelry shop located at Paltan Bazar in Guwahati.

GUWAHATI: With the Assam police extensive drive against drugs and narcotics in the state, the city crime branch busted a drug racket at a jewelry shop located at Paltan Bazar in Guwahati. Further, the police authorities confirmed that the entire operation was going on in a jewellry shop near the Nepali Mandir, Paltan Bazar. As per source, a raid was conducted in a jewelry shop namely Hiralal Jewellry under Paltan Bazar Police Station and seized 28 plastic container containing suspected heroine weighting 33 gm from the possession of one identified as Vishal Singh (39).

Meanwhile, proprietor of Hiralal Jewellry, Binod Verma (38) was also arrested along with cash worth Rs 10,000 seized. The Police also seized two motorcycles from the accused persons.

On the other hand, in a search operation, a drugs dealer namely Tosur Ali (28) was also apprehended at 3 no Railway Gate, Fancy Bazar and seized 12 gm suspected brown sugar from his possession and also seized cash Rs. 670 and one JAWA bike.

On May 26, giving an update on the drive against drugs in the state, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, "Fight Against Drug- Assam police intensifies its action against narcotics." While the substantial success on May 25 was: Pushpin Case registered 22; Arrests 42, Pushpin Seizure: Heroin 1144.843 gram; Ganja 2.250 kg; Cough Syrup 184 bottles; Tablet 71,730 nos; Cash recovered Rs 52,200.
