GUWAHATI: Congress leaders and workers staged a protest in support and solidarity with their leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday. Assam Pradesh Congress expressed deep concern at the rejection of the plea by Rahul Gandhi seeking a stay order on his conviction in a criminal defamation case over his Modi surname-related remarks.
APCC office-bearers, Assam Pradesh Mahila Congress President and others, APCC Seva Dal president and workers, and a number of senior congress leaders and members took part in the protest at Rajiv Bhawan, Guwahati.
APCC mentioned that they will always take strong steps to protest against the BJP for their anarchy and dominating rule in the country and alleged that the party has been misusing various agencies by influencing their power to intimidate and subjugate the other political parties, thereby destroying the Indian democratic institution and values. They also mentioned that Congress will remove the darkness and agony, reinstate peace, and instill confidence in the minds of the people of the country.
