GUWAHATI: The Assam Rajyik Prathamik Shikshak Sanmilani (ARPSS) is going to stage a dharna seeking the rights of primary teachers on October 5 – International Teachers' Day.

In a statement issued to the media by ARPSS president Jibon Chandra Bora and secretary general Ratul Chandra Goswami said that in December 2019 Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had directed to the authorities concerned to solve the problem of head masters' posts in primary schools and grade pay of graduate teachers. However, his directive has not been implemented as yet. "At 11 am on October 5, 2020 we'll stage dharna in front of all block offices of education by following COVID-19 protocols and send a memorandum each to the Chief Minister and the Education Minister," the statement said.

The other demands of the Sanmilani are declaring the results of scholarship examinations of 2019, regularization of all teachers before the promulgation of the National Education Policy 2020 etc.
